The Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles are set to play in Brazil on September 6, but fans of both teams should be aware of the local dress code. According to Packers running back Josh Jacobs, wearing green in certain parts of Brazil, including the area where the game will be held, is strongly discouraged due to gang-related issues.

The Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles will face off in the second NFL game of the season in Brazil on September 6, but fans attending the event may want to leave their green gear at home.

According to Packers running back Josh Jacobs, wearing green in the part of Brazil where the game will be played is a no-no due to gang-related issues. "They said, I guess, something to do with the gangs and stuff," Jacobs revealed on Chris Long's podcast.

Green is the primary color for both teams, posing a potential wardrobe dilemma for fans hoping to show their support. Jacobs himself, a former member of the Las Vegas Raiders, said he was advised to pack black and white for the trip.

"They said you can't even wear green," Jacobs said. "I was like, 'Oh, that's kind of crazy.'"

The game will be played at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, the home stadium of the Corinthians football club. The Corinthians' archrival is the Palmeiras, who wear green, and the stadium has unwritten rules prohibiting the wearing of green inside. Signs throughout the stadium declare the color "forbidden."

While it's unclear if the ban on green is strictly enforced, it's likely best for fans to err on the side of caution. Jacobs also mentioned that the teams are not staying in the nicest part of Brazil, so it may be wise to avoid wearing anything that could attract attention.

"They said [Rio de Janeiro] is one of them places where they probably won't even let us leave the hotels," Jacobs said.

The Packers do have alternate jerseys and helmets without green, featuring their old-time Michigan-looking uniforms. The Eagles, however, do not have a non-green helmet, although they do have a black alternate jersey.

It remains to be seen whether the green ban is a miscommunication, but it's safe to say Jacobs and other players will likely avoid wearing the color out of an abundance of caution.
