The National Football League (NFL) has announced the creation of NFL Source, a new initiative aimed at bolstering partnerships with minority- and women-owned businesses. This initiative is part of the league's ongoing efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in its business operations.

NFL Source aims to standardize the league's procurement practices, ensuring that underrepresented businesses have equal opportunities to compete for contracts. By expanding its day-to-day procurement efforts, the NFL seeks to boost economic growth and provide underrepresented businesses with increased exposure.

The league will assist teams in identifying potential partners that fall into the following categories: minority-owned, women-owned, disabled-owned, LGBTQ+-owned, or veteran-owned. "Doing business with the NFL can provide unparalleled exposure for businesses and boost local economic mobility," said Jonathan Beane, senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer at the NFL.

The initiative aligns with the league's commitment to give back to the communities where its clubs and offices are located. Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons, expressed support for the program, emphasizing the Falcons' dedication to working with the league to uplift and empower local and diverse businesses.

NFL Source comes at a time when the league has faced criticism for Harrison Butker's controversial commencement speech last week. Butker's personal views, as stated by Beane, do not represent the NFL's stance on inclusion.

To support local businesses, the league has partnered with U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. Together, they will assist businesses in obtaining the necessary certifications to qualify for collaboration with the NFL.

The NFL believes that embracing diversity and inclusion leads to enhanced productivity, innovative solutions, and increased creativity. By creating NFL Source, the league demonstrates its dedication to fostering a more inclusive business environment.

NFL Source is a testament to the league's commitment to diversifying its supplier base and empowering underrepresented businesses. Through this initiative, the NFL aims to drive economic impact and create opportunities for a wider range of partners.

The official launch of NFL Source marks a significant step forward in the NFL's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. The league remains steadfast in its commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable business environment, both on and off the field.
