Grassley and Johnson allege that under Kerry's leadership, the State Department blocked FBI investigations, allowing suspects to evade arrest, including those connected to Iran's weapons development efforts.
Revelations from whistleblowers have sparked an investigation into allegations that the Obama-Biden State Department interfered with FBI arrest warrants on individuals supporting Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
Senators Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson obtained letters from whistleblowers outlining the alleged obstruction, prompting them to send inquiries to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and Attorney General Merrick Garland.
The records show that while the Obama administration publicly pledged to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, then-Secretary of State John Kerry actively obstructed the FBI's efforts to apprehend individuals providing material support for Iran's weapons development.
The Justice Department and FBI leadership, including then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and then-FBI Director James Comey, are accused of failing to intervene in Kerry's interference. According to the whistleblowers, Kerry's actions allowed individuals on the Terrorism Watch List to escape arrest and enabled them to continue their support for Iran's nuclear program.
The records indicate that the State Department's alleged interference spanned multiple years, from 2015 to 2017. At least eight instances are detailed where the FBI was ready to execute arrest warrants but was blocked by the State Department, resulting in the loss of opportunities to apprehend suspects.
The whistleblowers also raised concerns about stand-down orders to arrest Iranian individuals and cited tension between Lynch and Kerry over the State Department's interference.
Grassley and Johnson have requested records from Kerry, CIA Director Bill Burns, Wendy Sherman, and Blinken to shed light on the extent of the alleged interference. They have also sought case files for the eight cases mentioned in the whistleblower disclosures.
The FBI and DOJ have confirmed receipt of Grassley's letter but declined to comment further. The State Department has not yet responded to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
The investigation raises serious questions about the Obama-Biden administration's commitment to preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. It also highlights concerns about the potential for political considerations to undermine law enforcement efforts.
