"I think it's all about sportsmanship, and we don't care whether we win or lose. We're always going to keep a good face and support our competitors because they've worked just as hard as we have for that moment," Biles said on NBC's "Today" show.

"So you have to give them their flowers. And that's exactly what me and Jordan were doing, and we were so happy for her. She deserved it. She had the best floor routine of the day and in the Olympics. So it's like, yeah, she deserved it."

Biles and Chiles' gesture reverberated throughout the sporting world, with many praising the pair for their humility and graciousness in defeat. Andrade's triumphant performance was also widely celebrated, as she became the first Brazilian gymnast to win an individual gold medal in the floor exercise.

Andrade's journey to Olympic glory was particularly inspiring, given her previous struggles with injuries. Her determination and resilience served as a testament to the indomitable spirit of athletes who overcome adversity to achieve their dreams.

While some, like Baltimore Ravens star Marlon Humphrey, criticized the American gymnasts' salute as "literally disgusting," Obama's post highlighted the overwhelming positive reception to their actions.
