Fox News host Howard Kurtz lambasts Obama's actions at an LA fundraiser, calling them inexplicable and detrimental to President Biden's image. Kurtz questions why Obama would publicly assist Biden off stage, despite knowing the scrutiny his health has faced.

In a scathing analysis on Fox News's "Media Buzz," Howard Kurtz denounced the recent behavior of President Biden and former President Obama, expressing concern about its negative impact on the presidency and the public's trust in media institutions.

Kurtz focused his criticism on an incident at a star-studded Los Angeles fundraiser where Obama was seen holding Biden's hand and guiding him off stage. He noted that Biden, 81, had been the subject of persistent allegations of frailty and confusion, and that Obama's actions appeared to lend credence to those claims.

"Obama knows his former VP has been under a constant barrage as frail and confused," Kurtz remarked. "Yet he literally took Biden's hand to lead him off the stage, then kept his hand on the president's back as they walked."

Kurtz questioned the wisdom of Obama's actions, arguing that they could damage Biden's already fragile image. He also criticized the Biden White House and media defenders for attempting to discredit any unflattering videos of the president as "deepfakes" or "cheapfakes."

"That effort conflates two very different situations," Kurtz asserted. "The New York Post seemed to follow the RNC's lead in running a cropped photo of Biden staring into space at the G-7 when he was actually talking to and giving a thumbs up to skydivers who had landed a few feet away."

Kurtz acknowledged reports that former President Trump has poor memory and has forgotten people he has met, but he found it hypocritical that Trump has repeatedly attacked Biden's mental acuity. He cited an excerpt from a new book by Ramin Setoodeh, which reported that Trump had no recollection of a lengthy interview the author had conducted with him.

"Trump spokesman Steven Cheung, like his boss, hit back hard, telling Newsweek: "President Trump was aware of who this individual was throughout the interview process, but this 'writer' is a nobody and insignificant so of course he never made an impression," Kurtz noted.

Kurtz expressed concern that the constant attacks and counter-attacks on the mental capabilities of both Biden and Trump are eroding public trust in media institutions. He argued that the media has a responsibility to separate truth from fiction, but acknowledged that most voters do not have the time or ability to critically analyze media content.

"In the end, maybe all the attacks cancel each other out," Kurtz said. "Maybe people throw up their hands and don't know what to believe. Maybe, without even getting into AI, there will be a fatal erosion of belief in media institutions that are already widely distrusted."

Kurtz concluded his analysis with a somber thought: "And that is a depressing thought."
