With Week 4 of the college football season in the rearview mirror, the race for the College Football Playoff (CFP) championship continues to heat up. Ohio State has cemented its status as the frontrunner, while Georgia's odds have taken a slight hit.
The Ohio State Buckeyes remain the heavy favorites to win the CFP championship, with odds of +340 (bet $10 to win $44). Ohio State Remains Frontrunner, Georgia's Odds Lengthen in CFP Championship Race
Georgia, the reigning CFP champions, have seen their odds lengthen to +360 (bet $10 to win $46). The Bulldogs were previously listed at +320 but dropped to second after having a bye week in Week 4. Georgia faces a tough test in Week 5 against Alabama, a game that could have significant implications in the championship race.
The Texas Longhorns have moved into third place with odds of +500 (bet $10 to win $60). Texas remained undefeated after a convincing win over UL Monroe in Week 4. Led by quarterback Quinn Ewers and running back Bijan Robinson, the Longhorns have shown the potential to challenge for the highest honors.
Alabama, despite suffering a narrow defeat to Texas in Week 2, remains in the top five with odds of +800 (bet $10 to win $90). The Crimson Tide are scheduled to face Georgia in a highly anticipated matchup in Week 5. Oregon, the reigning Pac-12 champions, are listed at +1000 (bet $10 to win $110).
One of the biggest movers on the board is Tennessee, which has jumped to +1100 (bet $10 to win $120). The Volunteers have impressed with back-to-back dominant victories, including a 71-0 rout of Kent State in Week 3 and a 25-15 win over Oklahoma in Week 4.
Other teams with championship aspirations include Ole Miss (+1300), Miami (+1800), Penn State (+2200), Clemson (+4000), LSU (+4500), Utah (+5000), USC (+5000), Notre Dame (+5000), Missouri (+6000), and Texas A&M (+7500).
It's worth noting that the CFP will expand to 12 teams this season, providing more opportunities for teams to reach the playoffs. This expansion could create more unpredictable outcomes and keep the championship race wide open.
