Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge are both having incredible seasons, with Ohtani leading the NL in home runs and RBIs and Judge leading the AL in both categories. Both players are now heavy favorites to win their respective MVP awards.
Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge have both had seasons for the ages, and they're not showing any signs of slowing down.
Ohtani, who is in his first season with the Dodgers, has been worth every penny of his 10-year, $700 million contract. He is second in the league in home runs (41), tied for fourth in the league in RBIs (94), and eighth in hits (148). He recently became the sixth member of the 40/40 club.
Ohtani and Judge: Two Historic Seasons in the Making
Judge, who is in his fifth season with the Yankees, is having an even better season than Ohtani. He leads the league in home runs (51) and RBIs (122), and is second in the league in average (.333). He is on pace for 63 home runs, which would be his third season with more than 50 homers, a feat only achieved by Babe Ruth, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Alex Rodriguez. It would also break his previous AL record of 62.
Both Ohtani and Judge are now heavy favorites to win their respective MVP awards. Ohtani is a -2300 favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook, while Judge is a -3000 favorite.
The performances of Ohtani and Judge have been so impressive that DraftKings Sportsbook has posted odds for "Ohtani vs. the field" and "Judge vs. the field" for MVP in the NL and AL, respectively.
Ohtani is a -1400 favorite to win the NL MVP, while Judge is a -3000 favorite to win the AL MVP.
FanDuel Sportsbook also has an interesting prop bet to take advantage of these historic seasons by offering odds for each of them to win the Triple Crown.
The Triple Crown - when a batter leads his league in average, homers, and RBIs - has only been accomplished 18 times in MLB history. The only time both leagues had a Triple Crown winner was in 1933.
Judge is a +520 favorite to win the AL Triple Crown, while Ohtani is a +1000 favorite to win the NL Triple Crown.
Can these two continue to rearrange the record books? Only time will tell, but they are both on pace for historic seasons.
