The Edmonton Oilers fought back from the brink of elimination, pummeling the Florida Panthers 8-1 in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.
The Edmonton Oilers avoided a demoralizing sweep in emphatic fashion on Saturday night, thrashing the Florida Panthers 8-1 in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Oilers became the first team to score at least eight goals in a Stanley Cup Final game since the Chicago Blackhawks in 1961.
After surviving an early power play by the Panthers, the Oilers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. In a lightning-fast sequence, Mattias Janmark converted a 2-on-1 opportunity set up by Connor Brown, giving the Oilers the early advantage. Minutes later, Adam Henrique doubled the lead, leaving the Panthers reeling.

Undeterred, Florida responded swiftly with a goal from Vladimir Tarasenko, bringing the score to 2-1. However, the Oilers quickly regained control, with Dylan Holloway restoring the two-goal lead with an assist from Leon Draisaitl. It marked Draisaitl's first point of the series and the first time the Oilers held a two-goal advantage since the start of the Final.
The barrage of goals continued in the second period, with Connor McDavid finally breaking his goal drought and putting the Oilers up 4-1. Darnell Nurse followed suit, forcing the Panthers to replace starting goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky with Anthony Stolarz. The Oilers' offensive firepower remained relentless, as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored on a two-man advantage.

In the third period, Holloway and Ryan McLeod added goals, piling on the misery for the Panthers. The Oilers' 8-1 victory marked the widest margin of victory in a Stanley Cup Final game since 1996 when the Detroit Red Wings crushed the Colorado Avalanche 6-0 in Game 4.
The Oilers now have a lifeline in the series and become the first team in NHL history to win a game after trailing 3-0. They face an uphill battle but have demonstrated resilience and the ability to score in bunches.

The Oilers will look to continue their momentum in Game 5 in Florida on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the Panthers will be desperate to regain control of the series and push the Oilers to the brink of elimination once more. The battle is far from over, and both teams will be giving it their all in the quest for the coveted Stanley Cup.
