Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is believed to have suffered a sprain to his MCL but has avoided a more significant ACL tear in his left knee, according to reports.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love appears to have dodged a serious injury after initial fears of a torn ACL were allayed. Love left the field with an apparent injury to his left leg during the Packers' 34-29 preseason loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night in Brazil.

However, after further examination, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that Love's ACL remained intact. While the Packers quarterback still requires further testing, ESPN reported that it is believed Love has suffered some damage to his MCL.

Although Love is likely to be sidelined for a yet-undetermined amount of time, the injury is not expected to force him to miss the rest of the season.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was unable to provide immediate details on Love's status after the game, stating, "I don't know," when asked about it.

Malik Willis, a 2022 third-round draft pick acquired from the Tennessee Titans, is currently the only other quarterback on Green Bay's 53-man roster. Willis would likely step in for Love.

Love, 25, was playing his first regular-season game since signing a four-year, $220 million contract extension this summer. The Packers entered the season with Super Bowl aspirations largely due to the emergence of Love, who led the NFL's youngest team to a surprising playoff berth last season as a first-year starter.

In addition to Willis, 2023 fifth-round pick Sean Clifford could be an option for the Packers. Clifford was released after the acquisition of Willis but later returned to Green Bay as a member of the practice squad.

LaFleur acknowledged the Packers' subpar performance in the preseason matchup and emphasized the need for improvements before their regular-season home opener.

"There's a lot to clean up," LaFleur said. "It was definitely a sloppy game, I think, from us. There were some uncharacteristic things that we did as a staff, quite frankly, and that trickled down to our players. So, ultimately, we've all got to look ourselves hard in the mirror and find ways to get better because tonight obviously wasn't good enough."

The Packers will host the Indianapolis Colts on September 15 to open their regular-season home schedule.
