Padres Infielder Tucupita Marcano Receives Lifetime Ban for Sports Betting Violations

The investigation revealed that Marcano placed bets on Pirates games while being on the team's roster, though not while actively playing. However, his wagering success rate was a dismal 4.3%.

In addition to Marcano's lifetime ban, four other players have been suspended for one year:

* Oakland Athletics pitcher Michael Kelly for betting on baseball while in the minor leagues

* San Diego Padres minor leaguer Jay Groome

* Philadelphia Phillies minor leaguer José Rodríguez

* Arizona Diamondbacks minor leaguer Andrew Saalfrank
