As Sajak bid farewell, fellow host Vanna White announced that she would continue with the show, while Ryan Seacrest would take over as the new host for season 42 in the fall.

Seacrest paid tribute to Sajak on Instagram, praising his dedication, charm, and wit. "Your partnership with Vanna has been nothing short of iconic," Seacrest wrote. "You've set the standard for hosts everywhere."

Despite retiring from "Wheel of Fortune," Sajak is not abandoning the stage entirely. In 2025, he will take on a leading role in the 1962 play "Prescription: Murder," which inspired the "Columbo" detective series.

Sajak will portray a psychiatrist who conspires with his mistress to murder his wife. His character will be relentlessly pursued by an unassuming LAPD lieutenant, played by Hawaii news anchor Joe Moore. The play will be staged at the Hawaii Theatre Center in Honolulu from July 31 to August 10, 2025.

Ryan Seacrest will succeed Pat Sajak as the host of "Wheel of Fortune" for season 42, premiering in the fall. Seacrest expressed his immense respect for Sajak and his unwavering commitment to the show.
