After 16 years on "NCIS," Pauley Perrette has bid farewell to acting, prioritizing authenticity and a desire to live life as her true self. Her career now revolves around documentary production, where she seeks to uncover the truth and foster authentic connections.
For 15 seasons, Pauley Perrette captivated audiences as Abby Sciuto, the eccentric forensic specialist on "NCIS." However, in 2017, she made a bold decision to leave the beloved crime drama. Fans were left shocked and heartbroken, but Perrette remained resolute in her decision, having made it a year prior.
Since her departure from "NCIS," Perrette has only graced the small screen in the short-lived sitcom "Broke," a far cry from the prominence she once held in television. Now, she has vowed to permanently retire from acting, embracing a new chapter in her life.

"I'm not ungrateful for the benefits that acting gave me," Perrette stated in an interview with HELLO! Magazine. "But I'm a different person now and I want to be here for it – the good, the bad, and the painful."
Perrette's decision stems from a deep-seated need for authenticity. As an actor, she found solace in portraying different characters, escaping her own personal struggles. However, now she yearns to live life on her own terms, embracing her true identity.

"I want to be me all the time," she explained. "It takes a good amount of courage for me to say that to myself, but it's authentically how I feel."
Despite her retirement from acting, Perrette remains deeply involved in the entertainment industry as a producer, particularly in the realm of documentaries. Her latest project, "Studio One Forever" (2023), reflects her desire for authenticity and truth-seeking.

"It's why I only watch documentaries, I want the truth," Perrette said. "For me, going back to being an actor would be taking away from this life of true authenticity that I'm living 100% of the time."
Perrette's departure from "NCIS" was shrouded in controversy after she alleged multiple physical assaults that led to her exit. While the specifics remain unclear, she has been outspoken about her fears of former co-star Mark Harmon.
