Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi praised President Biden's accomplishments in office during the Democratic National Convention, crediting him for job creation, infrastructure improvements, tax credits, and other measures.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) took to the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Wednesday to offer high praise for President Biden's work in office.
"On Jan. 20, 2021, with the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, we established one of the most successful presidencies of modern times," Pelosi declared.

She went on to enumerate a litany of Biden's achievements, including job creation, infrastructure improvements, and the passage of the Biden child tax credit. She also commended his efforts to strengthen human pensions, honor veterans, and address climate change.
"A Biden child tax credit, rescuing human pensions, honoring our veterans, bold climate action, lowering the cost of prescription drugs—all thanks to President Biden's patriotic vision of a fairer America," Pelosi said. "Doing so with liberty and justice for all."

Pelosi's remarks were a departure from her previous comments about the president's performance. In the past, she had reportedly expressed concerns about his ability to lead the country and was rumored to have played a role in his decision to withdraw from the presidential race.
However, at the convention, Pelosi insisted that Biden had made the decision to step down on his own. She also maintained that he had been a strong leader in the face of adversity.

"I know that President Biden is the right person to lead our country," Pelosi said. "He has the experience, the wisdom, and the determination to build a better America for all."
After praising Biden, Pelosi shifted her focus to Vice President Kamala Harris, who had secured the presidential nomination earlier in the month.

"I know that Vice President Harris is ready to take us to new heights," Pelosi said. "I've known Kamala Harris for decades. Personally, I know her as a person of deep faith, which is reflected in her community care and service."
Pelosi also highlighted Harris's record on abortion rights, calling her "a leader of strength and wisdom and eloquence on policy."
Pelosi's speech also touched on the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. She condemned the violence and placed blame on former President Donald Trump, without mentioning him by name.
"Let us not forget who assaulted democracy on January 6. He did," Pelosi said. "But let us not forget who saved democracy that day. We did. And thank God we had a Democratic House of Representatives then."
Pelosi urged Democrats to reject authoritarianism and support Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
"The choice couldn't be clearer," Pelosi said. "Those leaders are Vice President Harris and Governor Walz."
Pelosi's endorsement of Biden and Harris is a significant boost for the Democratic ticket. As former speaker of the House, Pelosi has a wealth of experience in national politics and is widely respected by both Democrats and Republicans. Her support will likely help to motivate voters to support the Democratic candidates in the upcoming election.
