Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's interview with Stephen Colbert on "The Late Show" was repeatedly disrupted by anti-Israel agitators, raising questions about the role of American power overseas and the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict.

Amidst the festivities of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi found herself at the center of a heated debate over the Israel-Palestinian conflict during an interview with Stephen Colbert on "The Late Show."

As Pelosi discussed President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and the DNC, anti-Israel protesters erupted from the audience with loud shouts and interruptions. Colbert swiftly addressed the demonstrators, acknowledging their presence and announcing a commercial break.

"For the people who can't tell, there's a protest going on in the audience," Colbert stated. "We're actually at a commercial break, and the—the subject is on Israel and Palestine and if you have a seat, we have to go to the commercial break."

Anti-Israel protesters had been demonstrating outside the DNC throughout the week, leading to a heavy police presence and the erection of a fence around the event center. The protesters' actions underscored the ongoing tensions surrounding the Israel-Palestinian conflict and the role of the United States in the region.

Following the commercial break, Colbert resumed the interview and addressed the protesters directly: "As I said earlier, there is a political protester here. There is a political convention in town, you are a politician and protests are natural. People are protesting, even within the Democratic Party, there is dissension over what is the proper use of American power, especially our protected power overseas, both firm and soft power. If the goal is the peaceful and prosperous future for both Israelis and Palestinians, what role does the United States play?"

Pelosi responded by emphasizing Biden's foreign policy experience and the United States' commitment to Israel, stating that "it's been in our security interest to do so." She condemned the attacks on Israel by a terrorist organization and demanded the release of hostages, while expressing concern about the deaths of children in Gaza.

Pelosi advocated for a two-state solution to the conflict, but her words were met with further interruptions from the protesters. Colbert intervened, meminta the demonstrators to respect Pelosi as his guest and allow her to finish her thoughts.

"Please don't interrupt my guest," Colbert said. "Madame Speaker, we're a live show, and we have to go at this point. Please come again and we can continue the conversation."

The incident highlighted the ongoing divisions within the Democratic Party over the Israel-Palestinian conflict and the challenges faced by American policymakers in balancing their support for Israel with the need for a just and peaceful resolution.
