"I dropped dead. I was dead for 30 minutes a couple of times. No heartbeat. No heartbeat at all," Vassar said. "I don't remember any of it, but I know I wasn't feeling well. And I just had genetic heart disease," he shared.

Vassar credits his survival to the prompt medical attention he received. First responders administered 11 shocks to his heart, leaving him with cracked ribs. However, he is grateful for the "heck of a job" they did in reviving him.

Three days after the heart attack, Vassar experienced a stroke while still hospitalized. He underwent cooling treatment, which resulted in a bizarre sensation of extreme cold.

"They iced me down, and they said I was going, 'Why was it so cold?' 'Cause you're on ice," he remembered. "So, it was a weird thing, but I dropped dead."

Despite performing 100 shows last year, Vassar's health struggles left him weakened. However, he is determined to continue touring and spreading his music.

"They did a heck of a job getting me back," Vassar remarked.

Vassar's story serves as a reminder to prioritize health and to be aware of the potential risks of heart disease. By sharing his experiences, he hopes to inspire others to live healthier lives and to cherish every day.
