On Friday, her lifeless body was discovered inside a reticulated python. The snake, measuring an estimated 16 feet in length, had swallowed Farida whole. Local authorities confirmed the gruesome find to AFP.

Village chief Suardi Rosi explained that the search for Farida commenced after she failed to return home on Thursday evening. Her husband's suspicions were aroused when he found her belongings scattered.

As the search intensified, villagers noticed a python with an unusually distended belly. Their suspicions grew, leading them to suspect that the snake might be involved in Farida's disappearance.

With grim determination, the villagers decided to cut open the python's stomach. As they did, Farida's head became visible, confirming their worst fears. Her fully clothed body was discovered inside the massive snake.

Farida's husband, Noni, expressed deep regret for allowing his wife to venture out alone. He lamented that if he had been present, the snake would not have dared to attack her.

While such incidents are rare, they have occurred previously in Indonesia. In 2022, a 26-foot python was killed while strangling and eating a farmer in Southeast Sulawesi. In 2018, a 54-year-old woman was found deceased inside a 23-foot snake in Muna town.

The reticulated python is renowned as the world's longest snake, native to various Southeast Asian countries. The longest known specimen measured 32 feet in length and weighed 350 pounds.

Reticulated pythons typically feed on rodents. However, larger specimens have been known to prey on larger mammals, including pigs, civets, and even primates. Federal law in the United States prohibits the importation of reticulated pythons, except with special permits.

While some reptile enthusiasts keep reticulated pythons as pets, their size and care requirements make them suitable only for dedicated and experienced handlers. Reptile Supply emphasizes the need for adequate space and proper care for these massive snakes.
