Amidst the excitement of a three-game sweep bid against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds fans witnessed a moment of both humor and concern when a grounds crew member was seemingly swallowed by the team's tarp.

As the sixth inning reached its end, umpires called for the tarp to be deployed over the field due to a thunderstorm. With remarkable efficiency, the grounds crew quickly spread the tarp across the field. However, in the process, a female member of the crew found herself trapped beneath the massive covering.

The incident drew the attention of play-by-play announcer John Sadak, who remarked, "Good news, bad news. Reds are up four. We are through five. Bad news: Tarp Monster did get one member of the grounds crew who got undercut and is trying to army-crawl a path to freedom."

The crowd at Great American Ballpark erupted in laughter and cheers as the woman emerged from the tangle, her face undoubtedly flushed from the unforgettable experience. Despite the setback, Cincinnati's momentum remained unbroken, as they held on to a 4-1 victory and snapped a 20-game losing streak.

The Dodgers, on the other hand, extended their losing streak to five, their longest since 2019. Jonathan India and Nick Martini played key roles for the Reds, driving in two runs each. The pitching quartet of Brent Suter, Nick Martinez, Carson Spiers, and Alexis Díaz limited the Dodgers to just five hits.

Freddie Freeman provided the Dodgers with their lone run in the ninth inning with an RBI double, but it was too little, too late. Díaz struck out Teoscar Hernández and Andy Pages to secure the win for the Reds.

The Dodgers' misfortunes continued as their scheduled game against the New York Mets was rained out. The two teams will now play a doubleheader on Tuesday.

For the Reds, the victory was a much-needed boost after a challenging season. The team had lost 20 of their last 26 games before Sunday's triumph.

The Reds' next game is scheduled for Tuesday at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates, while the Dodgers will begin their doubleheader against the Mets at Citi Field.
