The newly appointed Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, has issued a stark warning to the international body, calling for reforms to address its lack of response to regional conflicts and bias against Israel.
Danny Danon, the newly appointed Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, has voiced his concerns about the organization's handling of recent events in the Middle East and its long-standing bias against Israel. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Danon criticized the UN's failure to condemn Hezbollah's attacks on Israel from southern Lebanon, highlighting the lack of accountability within the international body.
"Security Council Resolution 1701 said very clearly that there would be no military force in southern Lebanon besides the Lebanese military, but look what happened since 2006," Danon said. "Hezbollah took over, they controlled the region, and they made this area a hub for terrorism with tens of thousands of rockets that, unfortunately, in the last few months, we felt the capabilities."

Danon warned that if the UN cannot enforce its own resolutions, Israel will have no choice but to take action. "I think if the UN is not capable of implementing the resolution, we will have to implement the resolution and push Hezbollah away from our community in the north," he stated.
The ambassador emphasized the need to address the root cause of regional conflicts by tackling the influence of Iran. "I think it's about time that not only Israel will deal with Iran, but the Western democracies will realize that they have to put pressure on Iran, they have to be active in order to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear capabilities," he said.

Danon highlighted the danger posed by Iran's nuclear ambitions, especially in light of the recent attack on Israel. "We thought on April 14 when they sent hundreds of projectiles into Israel and their intentions … imagine they had nuclear capabilities," he noted. "We will not wait for that day. We will not allow them to achieve nuclear capabilities."
While acknowledging the importance of the UN, Danon believes that reforms are crucial to address its systemic flaws. "I think we should reform the UN, and I expect the US to lead the action to change the UN," he said. "I think the UN is an important organization, and we have to reform it and make sure that the UN will focus on the real objects of promoting security and peace and not becoming a platform for hate and incitement by radical countries."

Danon's predecessor, Gilad Erdan, was known for his fiery rhetoric and criticism of the UN, even calling for the closure of its Jerusalem office. Danon, however, takes a more pragmatic approach, believing that the US has a key role to play in reforming the organization.
"I think that the major country – the strongest country, that allocates most of their budget should come with demands and look at the performance of the UN, the resolution of the UN, and ask for accountability and make sure that the focus will be on the right places," Danon said. "It's not happening today."

The United States is the largest financial contributor to the United Nations, providing over $18 billion in 2022, accounting for one-third of its collective budget. Danon argued that the US should use its influence to hold the UN accountable and prioritize global security and peace over biased agendas.
