Jon Wysocki, a co-founder and the founding drummer of the Grammy-nominated grunge band Staind, has died at the age of 53. No cause of death has been released at this time.
Wysocki played a pivotal role in Staind's rise to fame during the late 1990s and early 2000s. His powerful and distinctive drumming style became a trademark of the band's heavy-hitting sound, anchoring their signature songs such as "It's Been Awhile," "Outside," and "Price to Play."
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1969, Wysocki began playing drums as a teenager and joined Staind in 1995. The band quickly gained a following for their intense live performances and emotionally charged lyrics.
Staind's debut album, "Dysfunction," was released in 1999 and became a critical and commercial success. The album spawned several hit singles, including "Mudshovel," "Just Go," and "Home."
Over the next decade, Staind released a string of successful albums, including "Break the Cycle" (2001), "14 Shades of Grey" (2003), and "Chapter V" (2005). The band's albums have sold over 15 million copies worldwide and have earned them multiple Grammy nominations.
Wysocki left Staind in 2011 to pursue other musical projects. He was replaced by Sal Giancarelli, who has been the band's drummer ever since.
In recent years, Wysocki had been focusing on his solo career and had released several albums under his own name. He also collaborated with other musicians and appeared as a guest drummer on various recordings.
Wysocki's passing has left a void in the rock music community. He was a talented and respected musician who helped shape the sound of one of the most successful grunge bands of the early 2000s. His music and legacy will continue to inspire countless musicians and fans alike.
Wysocki is survived by his wife and two children. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and fans. Rest in peace, Jon Wysocki.
