Rep. Ocasio-Cortez Hails Gov. Walz as 'Uniter' Representing the Nation

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent Democratic Representative, has enthusiastically endorsed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as a running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris. She praises Walz's ability to unite all Americans, including those in rural, suburban, and urban areas.

During an appearance on "CBS Mornings," Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., extolled the virtues of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, emphasizing his unifying qualities and his ability to represent the entire nation.

"First and foremost, it says that Governor Walz is a uniter, that Vice President Harris is picking a uniter, for not just the Democratic Party, but for the entire United States," Ocasio-Cortez stated.

She further highlighted the diversity of perspectives and backgrounds reflected in the Harris-Walz ticket, noting that it encompassed "every American, rural America, suburban America, urban America."

Gayle King of CBS questioned Ocasio-Cortez about the "rave reviews" Walz was receiving from fellow Democrats. Ocasio-Cortez elaborated on his progressive credentials, explaining that it entailed prioritizing the needs of working families over special interests and corporations.

"And so that translates into what we see in Governor Walz and the priorities of Vice President Harris," she added.

Ocasio-Cortez's endorsement joins a chorus of support from other Democratic leaders, including West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. Manchin hailed Walz's ability to restore normalcy and balance to the political landscape.

However, despite Walz's progressive record, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi defended his centrist leanings. "Tim Walz is wonderful... To characterize him as left is so unreal. He's right down the middle," she asserted.

Ocasio-Cortez's praise for Walz underscores the Democratic Party's commitment to unity and diversity, as it seeks to broaden its appeal across the political spectrum. The Harris-Walz ticket embodies this aspiration, aiming to represent the interests of all Americans in the upcoming election.
