Republican lawmakers Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) and Representative Mike Lawler (R-NY) have introduced a resolution in Congress calling for the Biden administration to censure Iran at the next International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting. The resolution stems from heightened nuclear activities by Iran, which has raised concerns about the country's acquisition of nuclear weapons.

The resolution, which is co-sponsored by several other Republican senators and representatives, condemns Iran's obstruction of monitoring and verification activities by the IAEA. It urges the Biden administration to pursue punitive measures for Iran's violations of international non-proliferation agreements and to commit to preventing the country from acquiring nuclear weapons.

"Iran is the greatest state sponsor of terror in the world, and there is no greater national security threat than a nuclear Iran," Rep. Lawler stated. "Unfortunately, a foreign policy of weakness and appeasement has emboldened the Islamic Republic, which is now closer than ever to having nuclear weapons."

The resolution also emphasizes the need for a coordinated international response to address the threat posed by Iran's nuclear program. It calls on all nations to join the United States in taking decisive action to ensure Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons and to uphold nuclear non-proliferation standards in the Middle East and beyond.

In a separate development, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) criticized the Biden administration's expression of condolences for the passing of former Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. Cotton described it as "disappointing" and said it sends the wrong message to Iran's current regime.

"Conveying condolences to the mortal enemy of the United States, especially when he was one of the most enthusiastic supporters of terrorism, is a mistake," Cotton stated.

Critics of the Biden administration's Iran policy have argued that its strategy of de-escalation and containment targeting Iran's atomic program has failed. They argue that Iran's regime is moving rapidly to secure an operational nuclear weapon.

In a report obtained by Fox News Digital, the intelligence agency for Germany's most populous state, Nordrhein-Westfalen, highlighted ongoing intensive procurement efforts by Iran in Germany for its nuclear and missile programs. The report suggests that Iran is engaged in proliferation-relevant activities to bypass existing sanctions.

The Biden administration has not yet commented on these developments. Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for comment.
