Albert Calibet, a semi-retired Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy, vanished while hiking on the Greek island of Amorgos, sparking a frantic search by his family and friends.
Albert Calibet, a seasoned hiker and semi-retired Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy, has mysteriously vanished during a vacation in Greece, leaving his loved ones in anguish and desperation.
Calibet, 59, embarked on a four-hour hike across the picturesque Greek island of Amorgos on June 11th. He planned to meet a friend later that day, but never showed up. His friend reported him missing when he failed to return from the hike.

Calibet has been a regular visitor to Amorgos for years, and is known to be an experienced and physically fit hiker. Despite the challenging nature of the hike, he had completed it before.
Initially, his loved ones speculated that he might have fallen into a crevice or down the side of a cliff. However, after days of searching, none of his belongings have been recovered.

"He's so physically fit. He's so strong...Something's happened to our friend and the clock is ticking and we need him to be found already," said Robin Winston Leon, Calibet's friend.
The search for Calibet has been hampered by the island's remoteness and limited resources. Amorgos, with a population of less than 2,000, is located 30 miles from the nearest airport on the island of Santorini.

Calibet's disappearance coincided with a severe heat wave in Greece, raising concerns about dehydration and heat exhaustion.
"There's no water... I'm very distraught," said Oliver Calibet, Albert's brother who flew to Greece to assist in the search.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding Calibet's disappearance have added to the anguish of his family and friends.
"We're almost on three days here... We don't want to do life without Albert so we've got to find him," said Sandrine Cutright, Calibet's sister-in-law.
In a desperate plea, Calibet's loved ones are urging anyone with resources such as drones and flashlights to assist in the search. They believe that these tools could help locate Calibet in the rugged terrain of Amorgos.
"We need him to be found already. We're not giving up," said Cutright.
