RFK Jr. Blasts CNN for Excluding Him from Debate, Accuses Biden and Trump of Collusion

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (RFK Jr.), a self-described "moderate Democrat" running for president as an independent, has accused former President Trump and President Biden of colluding with CNN to prevent him from participating in a presidential debate.

In a letter sent to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) by his attorney, Lorenzo Holloway, RFK Jr. alleges that CNN colluded with the Biden campaign and the Trump campaign to schedule a debate with criteria designed to favor Biden and Trump. According to the letter, CNN's actions violate the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA), which prohibits corporations from making contributions to political candidates.

RFK Jr. argues that CNN's alleged collusion with Biden and Trump puts the parties in "a clear breach of federal campaign finance law." He claims that by demanding that he meet different criteria to participate in the debate than Biden and Trump, CNN is making a prohibited corporate contribution to both campaigns.

CNN has denied RFK Jr.'s allegations, stating that he does not currently meet the polling criteria necessary for a debate invitation. According to CNN, the law in virtually every state allows the nominee of a state-recognized political party to gain ballot access without petitioning. Since Biden and Trump are the presumptive nominees of their parties, they automatically satisfy this requirement. As an independent candidate, RFK Jr. does not.

CNN emphasized that RFK Jr.'s application for ballot access does not guarantee that he will appear on the ballot in any state. He still has time to qualify for the debate, but the eligibility window closes one week before the June 27 debate date.

The Trump campaign has dismissed RFK Jr.'s allegations, accusing him of being "on a downward path." National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that Biden does not want RFK Jr. in the debates because both candidates are on the "far-left." She also questioned RFK Jr.'s polling numbers and his campaign's overall qualifications.

RFK Jr. has called for an investigation into CNN's alleged collusion with the Biden and Trump campaigns. He believes that the network should be held accountable for violating federal campaign finance law. The FEC has not yet commented on RFK Jr.'s request for an investigation.

The allegations of collusion between CNN, Biden, and Trump have raised concerns about the fairness and transparency of the upcoming presidential debates. If proven true, these allegations could lead to legal challenges and potentially impact the outcome of the election.
