RFK, Jr. made his remarks on "The Story" with Martha MacCallum on Tuesday, after Biden's criticized performance at last week's CNN Presidential Debate in Atlanta.

"This is the man who's going to be possibly woken up at 3:00 a.m. in the morning and have to make a decision within six minutes of waking up about whether to retaliate, whether to send a missile barrage onto the Russians," RFK, Jr. said. "We need a president who's going to be thinking all the time."

RFK, Jr. highlighted the increasing danger and precariousness of the country's situation, citing the Russia-Ukraine war and China's growing influence. He emphasized the need for a president who is "actually looking at reality and is, you know, is trying to adjust our reality to the facts."

RFK, Jr. acknowledged Biden's statement that he is "not a young man," but he stressed that it is not enough to rely on a president's record in office to dismiss concerns about their mental acuity.

"There was real shock," RFK, Jr. recalled, saying that people were texting each other during the debate expressing dismay at Biden's performance.

The Independent presidential candidate said he had not spoken with his family about their reactions to Biden's debate performance, but shared that on their listserv, a group email list, people were "shocked."

Biden has been the subject of growing criticism and calls to step down following his performance at the CNN Presidential Debate. The New York Times reported that Biden's family urged him to stay in the 2024 race despite concerns about his cognitive ability.

RFK, Jr. emphasized the importance of having a president who is fully alert and capable of making critical decisions, particularly in times of heightened global tensions.

"You've got China threatening Taiwan," RFK, Jr. said. "You've got nuclear-armed North Korea. You've got the Russians killing innocent civilians in Ukraine. We need to have a president who is on the ball 100% of the time."

RFK, Jr.'s concerns about Biden's mental acuity have added to the growing debate over the president's ability to lead the country. The situation has sparked speculation about Biden's future in office and the potential for a change in leadership.
