Independent presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has raised concerns about the avoidance of debates by his political opponents, namely former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. Kennedy claims that their unwillingness to engage with him on stage may stem from concerns about his medical history.

Recently, Kennedy disclosed that he had suffered from a parasite that infected his brain, leading to memory loss and hallucinations. He also discussed mercury poisoning, a condition he has claimed to have battled for years.

Kennedy's openness about his medical issues has been met with mixed reactions. While some experts have described it as "bizarre," others have praised his transparency. Democratic strategist Eric Koch expressed concern that Kennedy's revelations may erode voter confidence in his ability to lead.

Republican strategist Lisa Boothe called Kennedy's medical revelations "a weird flex," considering his age and potential health challenges. She suggested that he should focus on projecting strength instead of weakness.

Kennedy's recollection of his brain parasite infection was based on a 2012 deposition. He claimed that he had been informed by a doctor that a brain scan revealed a dark spot caused by a worm that had consumed part of his brain.

Kennedy also revealed that he had undergone treatment for mercury poisoning. He stated that tests showed his mercury levels were ten times higher than safe levels, prompting him to remove the metal from his body.

Kennedy's disclosures have led to criticism from some media figures. Media figures criticized Kennedy for suggesting that Biden posed a greater threat to democracy than Trump, citing his own health issues as evidence.

Despite the controversy, Kennedy has consistently mentioned mercury poisoning in interviews dating back to 2004. He has claimed that elevated mercury levels in his body have affected his cognitive abilities, including his memory.

In previous interviews, Kennedy has said that mercury exposure could cause children of women with high levels to have cognitive impairments and an IQ loss of five to seven points.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Kennedy's campaign for comment on his medical history and his claims about his opponents' aversion to debates. The campaign has yet to respond.
