A resurfaced video of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has sparked outrage among Republicans, who have denounced his disparaging remarks about individuals in red states. In a 2005 speech, RFK Jr. suggested that red state residents are more likely to commit heinous crimes, murder, and impregnate teenage girls.

The video, posted by former President Donald Trump's MAGA War Room X account, has drawn severe criticism from Republican lawmakers. Sen. John Barasso of Wyoming stated that RFK Jr.'s attacks are disqualifying and that he is proud to represent a conservative state. Rep. Lance Gooden of Texas called RFK Jr.'s comments unhinged and unbacked by facts.

Rep. Jim Banks of Indiana, who is running for the Senate, asserted that Hoosiers will remember RFK Jr.'s attacks on the values of red state America. Riley Moore, a GOP congressional candidate in West Virginia, dismissed RFK Jr. as a friend to conservative states.

RFK Jr.'s remarks have also been criticized by media pundits, whom he referred to as "gas bags" in his speech. He argued that their claims about former President George W. Bush's victory being due to moral superiority in red states are false.

To support his argument, RFK Jr. cited statistics showing lower divorce and teen pregnancy rates in blue states compared to red states. However, critics have questioned the validity of his data and methodology.

The controversy has arisen amid RFK Jr.'s challenge to Trump for a presidential debate. After Trump labeled him a "Democrat plant," RFK Jr. has maintained that he, not Biden, is the true challenger to Trump. He has announced a "no-spoiler pledge" if Biden agrees to take the same.

Fox News has reached out to RFK Jr.'s presidential campaign for comment. The controversy is expected to continue as the 2024 race intensifies.
