Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s endorsement of former President Trump has sent shockwaves through the mainstream media, with outlets warning that it could significantly boost Trump's re-election campaign.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s decision to suspend his Independent presidential campaign and endorse former President Donald Trump has ignited a barrage of criticism from mainstream media outlets.
The Washington Post's Karen Tumulty condemned Kennedy's endorsement as a "betrayal of the Kennedy legacy," accusing him of casting aside the principles of his family. Alexandra Petri mocked Kennedy with a satirical column written from the perspective of the parasite he claimed a doctor found in his brain.

Politico published a listicle of "7 weirdest moments from RFK Jr.'s long-shot campaign," highlighting his brain parasite story, his conspiratorial comments on 9/11, and his staged debate with President Biden and Trump.
Cable TV pundits also joined the media assault. Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan dismissed Kennedy as an "unserious guy," while CNN host Erin Burnett warned that Kennedy's endorsement could hurt the Democratic Party's chances in November.

Burnett highlighted Kennedy's strong performance in swing states, arguing that his endorsement could swing the election in Trump's favor. "When you think about it overall, and they say 'Well, that's not a big deal.' Actually, if that is the case in swing states, it is huge. It is everything. It is more than the margin between Harris and Trump in some of those same states," Burnett said.
Critics pointed to Kennedy's previous denunciations of Trump as a "sociopathic" president. Hasan called it ironic that "now saying, ‘Oh yeah, I’m gonna back this guy for a second term.’"

Kennedy defended his decision, accusing the Democratic Party of legal warfare against him and Trump, and of running a sham primary. He also slammed the media for "censorship" that prevented him from gaining traction in the campaign.
The controversy surrounding Kennedy's endorsement is expected to continue as the presidential election draws near. Mainstream media outlets remain skeptical of Kennedy's motives and warn of its potential impact on the outcome.
