The LAPD told Fox News Digital that "no foul play" was suspected in Simmons' death. Simmons' longtime caretaker, Teresa Reveles, found him unresponsive in his bedroom on the day he died. Reveles said that Simmons' leg was hurting from a fall the previous day. She urged him to go to the hospital, but he declined, saying he wanted to wait until the next day.

Tragically, it was too late. Simmons passed away one day after his birthday, July 12. He was laid to rest five days later, surrounded by close friends and family.
