Upon receiving reports of injuries, firefighters swiftly responded to the scene. The incident occurred at LaVell Edwards Stadium, home to Brigham Young University's football team. The fireworks display commenced just as the national anthem concluded and fighter jets performed a flyover.
The fireworks were intended to shoot vertically into the sky, illuminating the stadium with a dazzling display. However, as the pyrotechnics were launched, stray sparks and debris veered horizontally into the crowd congregated near the stage.

Concerned attendees frantically waved their hands in the air, signaling to officials the urgent need for assistance. The unnerving spectacle left many in the audience feeling vulnerable and shaken.
Freedom Festival, the organization responsible for orchestrating the Stadium of Fire and other annual events nationwide, released a statement acknowledging the incident. They emphasized the thorough inspection of all fireworks prior to the show and conducted a second check following the accident.
"Safety is of the utmost importance to us," Freedom Festival stated. "All pyrotechnics at Stadium of Fire are thoroughly checked before the show, and were rechecked after tonight's incident. Our thoughts are with those who were impacted, and we are following up with them to make sure they are okay."
Following a brief pause in the festivities, the concert resumed with the performance of the Jonas Brothers around 9 p.m. The show concluded without further reports of incidents, providing some relief to the shaken attendees.
Janna-Lee Holland, spokesperson for the Provo Police Department, confirmed that the investigation into the incident began immediately after the flyover. She declined to provide details on the number or severity of injuries, citing ongoing investigations.
Videos capturing the rogue fireworks have been widely circulated on social media, vividly depicting the alarming shots penetrating the crowd. While the stadium is typically used for football games, the incident demonstrates the potential risks associated with fireworks displays in public gatherings.
