Prince Charles, who is now King Charles III, attended a service of remembrance at Portsmouth Cathedral, where he laid a wreath at the D-Day memorial. Prince William and Kate Middleton also attended the service, along with Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

In a speech, Charles paid tribute to the "indomitable spirit" of the D-Day veterans. He said, "They risked everything for our freedom, and we are forever in their debt."

The Queen, who is 96 years old, did not attend the service due to mobility issues. However, she sent a message of support, saying that she was "deeply grateful" to the veterans for their service.

The D-Day invasion was a turning point in World War II. The Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, on June 6, 1944, and fought their way inland against fierce German resistance. The invasion was a success, and it helped to pave the way for the eventual defeat of Nazi Germany.

Princess Anne, the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II, has suffered minor injuries and a concussion following an incident at her country home, Buckingham Palace announced on Monday.

The 73-year-old princess was walking within the protected perimeter of the Gatcombe Park estate when the incident occurred on Sunday evening. She was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for observation.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement, "Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation. The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole royal family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery."

Princess Anne is expected to make a full recovery. Her engagements for the days ahead will be postponed, and she will not attend the state dinner being held in honor of the emperor of Japan.

The exact cause of the injuries and concussion has not yet been confirmed. However, her medical team said that her head injuries were consistent with a potential impact from a horse's head or legs.

Princess Anne is a keen equestrian and has represented Great Britain in equestrian events at the Olympics. She is also the patron of several equestrian organizations.
