Former "Bachelor" contestant Ben Higgins claims a conversation about cornfields during a drive to Indiana highlighted a fundamental difference in life views between "Golden Bachelor" stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, potentially contributing to their recent divorce.
In a bombshell revelation, former "Bachelor" alum Ben Higgins has shed light on a potential contributing factor to the recent divorce of "Golden Bachelor" stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist. During an interview on the "The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous" podcast, Higgins shared a rumor that a disagreement over cornfields during a drive to Turner's Indiana lake house ignited a deeper rift in the couple's relationship.
Higgins explained that prior to the trip, Turner and Nist were already experiencing differences of opinion about life. As they drove from the airport to Turner's lake house, Nist's comments about the vast expanses of cornfields prompted a surprising reaction from Turner.
According to Higgins, Nist allegedly expressed her vision for developing the cornfields, envisioning condominiums, office buildings, and thriving communities. Turner, on the other hand, reportedly responded with the sentiment that "you don't take land from a farmer."
Higgins emphasized that this conversation is based on rumor and generalization, but he suggested that it marked a turning point in their disagreement. "This was a big start to them disagreeing on how they saw the world and what they imagined for the world and how they wanted to invest into the world," Higgins said.
Turner and Nist's divorce announcement, made just three months after their televised wedding ceremony, cited their "living situation" as a significant factor. The couple had planned to move to South Carolina but had not yet settled on a home. Nist's base was in New Jersey, while Turner resided in Indiana.
While Higgins presented this rumor of a cornfield disagreement, fellow "Bachelor" star Chris Soules, a farmer himself, offered a balanced perspective. Soules acknowledged that both development and preservation of farmland have merits, but he questioned whether such a difference of opinion should lead to a relationship breakup.
Regardless of the rumored cornfield incident, representatives for Turner and Nist have declined to comment. The couple has maintained that they still love and respect each other, and their decision to end their marriage was not driven by a lack of love.
The public has expressed heartbreak over the news of Turner and Nist's divorce, as many found inspiration and hope in their televised love story. However, the rumored cornfield disagreement serves as a reminder that even the most promising relationships can face challenges that ultimately lead to separation.
