Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) has released two different angles of footage capturing the May 17 arrest of Scottie Scheffler, the current No. 1 golfer in the world. The arrest occurred before the second round of the PGA Championship in Louisville, Kentucky.

Romines has vehemently denied any wrongdoing on Scheffler's part. "Scottie Scheffler didn't do anything wrong," Romines stated. "We're not interested in settling the case. We will either try it, or it will be dismissed. It's very simple."

The footage released by LMPD shows an officer running up to Scheffler's vehicle and attempting to open the door while Scheffler gestures towards the golf course. The officer can be seen banging on Scheffler's window, after which Scheffler is arrested.

Scheffler has maintained that the arrest was a "big misunderstanding" arising from a chaotic situation. He has expressed gratitude for the "kindness" of the LMPD officers and emphasized that he was unaware of any officer being dragged by his vehicle.

In a joint press conference, Louisville Police Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel announced that Det. Bryan Gillis, who apprehended Scheffler, received "corrective action" for failing to turn on his body camera, a violation of LMPD policy.

Mayor Craig Greenberg highlighted the importance of body-worn cameras for maintaining community trust and transparency, while stressing the LMPD's focus on reducing crime in the city.

Scheffler was initially charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from an officer directing traffic. However, reports suggest that all charges may be dropped.

Scheffler is currently competing in the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. His arraignment, initially set for May 25, has been postponed to June 3 due to a scheduling conflict for Romines.
