Fox News host Sean Hannity decries the politicization of justice in America, accusing far-left prosecutors and bureaucrats of using the prosecution of former President Donald Trump as a tool for political retribution.
Fox News host Sean Hannity unleashed a scathing attack on the justice system under the Biden administration, accusing far-left prosecutors and bureaucrats of turning it into a tool for political retribution.
"Our constitutional republic be damned. Equal justice under the law be damned. Equal application of our laws be damned. Welcome to Joe Biden's America," Hannity thundered on his show "Hannity."
Hannity's comments came in response to the recent trial of Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, which he characterized as a "political show trial."
"The greatest threat to our American republic is not from the guy facing real prison time because of this political show trial," Hannity said. "Instead, it would be the far-left prosecutors, the bureaucrats who have turned your system of justice into a tool for political retribution."
Hannity cited the case of Robert De Niro, who recently made inflammatory comments about Trump. "Like Biden, De Niro's best years are behind him," Hannity said. "Sadly, he suffers from one of the worst cases of Trump Derangement Syndrome we've ever seen."
"De Niro has been a vocal critic of President Trump, but his recent comments took his derangement to a new level," Hannity continued. "De Niro claimed that Trump 'could destroy the world' if he were to be re-elected in 2024."
Hannity dismissed De Niro's claims as "ludicrous" and accused him of being out of touch with reality.
"De Niro's comments are not only laughable but they are also dangerous," Hannity said. "They contribute to the toxic political climate in this country, where people are quick to demonize their political opponents."
Hannity called on Americans to reject the "politics of hate" and to stand up for equal justice under the law.
"We must not allow the far-left to destroy our constitutional republic," Hannity said. "We must defend the rule of law and ensure that justice is served fairly and impartially."
Hannity's comments come amid a growing backlash against the politicization of the justice system. Critics have accused Democrats of using the Department of Justice to target their political opponents, while Republicans have accused Democrats of shielding their allies from prosecution.
The debate over the politicization of justice is likely to continue in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election.
