Representative Ronny Jackson accuses Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle of lying, casting doubt on the agency's handling of the assassination attempt on former President Trump.

Representative Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) has accused Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle of lying to him directly, raising concerns about the agency's handling of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Jackson made the allegations on Sunday's "Sunday Morning Futures" program, alleging that Cheatle had provided him with inaccurate information regarding Trump's health following the incident.

"She lied directly to me," Jackson told host Maria Bartiromo. "I asked her about the President's health, and she said he was fine. But I later found out that he was not fine. He had a concussion and was in a lot of pain."

Jackson's allegations have added to the growing chorus of criticism directed at the Secret Service. Last week, it was revealed that the agency had taken more than an hour to respond to the assassination attempt, raising serious questions about its ability to protect the former President.

Secret Service Director Cheatle has since announced plans to cooperate with an independent security review of the agency's actions related to the assassination attempt. The review will be conducted by a four-person panel composed of former government officials and homeland security experts.

The panel will have 45 days to review the policies and procedures of the Secret Service before and after the assassination attempt. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said that additional experts may be added to the panel in the coming days.

In a statement, the panel said that it is "deeply concerned about the safety of our public officials" and that it is "committed to working together to ensure events like July 13 do not happen again."

The independent review is expected to provide recommendations on how the Secret Service can improve its security protocols and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Meanwhile, Jackson's allegations against Cheatle are likely to fuel further controversy over the Secret Service's handling of the assassination attempt. The House Oversight Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on Monday to question Cheatle about the incident.

The Secret Service has faced intense scrutiny in the aftermath of the assassination attempt, and the independent review is expected to provide important insights into the agency's performance. The results of the review will likely have a significant impact on the Secret Service's future operations and its ability to protect the President and other high-ranking officials.
