Cheatle, who made history as the second woman to lead the Secret Service, has faced criticism for allegedly prioritizing diversity and inclusion over security. Critics allege that her focus has compromised the agency's mission to protect high-level officials and maintain national security.
"Instead of focusing on keeping our leaders like Trump safe, she's more worried about diversity and hiring more women," said Benny Johnson, a conservative commentator. "She should be fired and investigated immediately. This is a national security risk."

Lawmakers have also voiced their dissatisfaction. House Speaker Mike Johnson has called for a full investigation and demanded that Cheatle testify before Congress. Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., has requested a formal briefing from the Secret Service and urged Cheatle to appear before the Oversight Committee.
Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the House, has demanded that Cheatle be suspended immediately. He criticized the agency's slow response to the assassination attempt, claiming that security protocols were inadequate.

Cheatle, a veteran of the Secret Service, joined the agency in 1995 and served as a member of the VP Protective Detail during the Obama administration. She held various leadership positions before retiring in 2019 and later joined PepsiCo as a senior director of global security.
President Biden has expressed confidence in Cheatle, saying, "She has my complete trust, and I look forward to working with her." However, the recent incident has raised serious questions about the agency's ability to fulfill its mission under Cheatle's leadership.
The House Oversight Committee has summoned Cheatle to testify on July 11 regarding the assassination attempt. The hearing will seek to clarify the agency's actions, address security concerns, and determine if Cheatle should continue to lead the Secret Service.
As the investigation continues, the Secret Service is facing a critical moment. Its reputation and effectiveness are on the line, and the public is demanding answers about the agency's ability to protect those who are entrusted to their care.
