After two assassination attempts in recent weeks, the Secret Service is providing former President Donald Trump with the highest level of protection possible.
In the aftermath of two near-deadly assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump, the United States Secret Service has stepped up its protective measures to an unprecedented level. According to Secret Service acting Director Ronald Rowe, Trump is currently receiving the "highest level" of protection afforded to any individual in the country.
This heightened level of security comes on the heels of a bipartisan bill passed unanimously by the Senate, which would extend Secret Service protection to major presidential candidates. The legislation, known as the Protect Our President Act, was introduced by Senators Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Rick Scott (R-Fla.) in response to the recent threats against Trump.

"Over the course of just 65 days, two deranged individuals have tried to kill President Donald Trump, and one was able to shoot him in the head," Scott stated during the bill's introduction. "This cannot happen again."
The Protect Our President Act would provide presidential-level protection to presidential nominees and extend that level of protection to vice presidential nominees as well. This would include Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) and Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), the respective nominees in the upcoming presidential election.

The bill also mandates regular reporting from the Secret Service to the leaders of the House and Senate on the status of candidates' protection. These reports would include threat levels, security measures, costs, the number of personnel assigned, and any unmet security needs.
Furthermore, the bill would require the Secret Service to provide a report every 15 days during a presidential election year on the threat level for each presidential nominee, the security measures being implemented, associated costs, the number of personnel permanently assigned to each protective detail, and any unmet security needs.

This increased level of protection and reporting is essential to ensure the safety of presidential candidates and prevent future attempts on their lives. The Secret Service's determination to provide Trump with the highest level of protection reflects the critical importance of maintaining the security of former presidents and safeguarding the integrity of our democratic process.
