Florida State's hopes for a successful 2024 season took a major hit on Monday night as they fell to the Boston College Eagles 28-13 at Doak Campbell Stadium.
The Florida State Seminoles' start to the 2024 season has been nothing short of disappointing. After entering the season ranked No. 10 in the nation, the Seminoles have dropped their first two games, including a humiliating 28-13 defeat to the Boston College Eagles on Monday night.
The Eagles, who entered the game as 14-point underdogs, controlled the contest from the opening whistle. Boston College running back Treshaun Ward was a force on the ground, rushing for 77 yards and a touchdown. He also had three catches for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback Thomas Castellanos was efficient through the air, completing 10 of 17 passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 73 rushing yards and another touchdown on the ground.
The Seminoles offense, on the other hand, struggled to find any rhythm. Quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei completed just 21 of 42 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown. The Seminoles managed only 21 rushing yards on 22 attempts.

The loss drops Florida State to 0-2 on the season, putting a major damper on their hopes of making the expanded College Football Playoff. The Seminoles were considered one of the contenders to reach the playoff, but their poor start has cast doubt on those aspirations.
"I'm very proud of these guys," said Boston College head coach Bill O'Brien. "They were resilient tonight. To come down here against a team that really in their minds had to have this win, that's a heck of a statement for BC. But it's just one win."

For Florida State head coach Mike Norvell, the loss was a major disappointment.
"Sick to how this season started," said Norvell. "I failed in preparing the team to be able to go out and respond tonight."
The Seminoles will look to rebound next week when they travel to Louisville to face the Cardinals. Boston College will host FCS opponent Colgate in their home opener.
