U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has expressed outrage and demanded the death penalty for two illegal immigrants accused of murdering a 12-year-old girl in Texas. The senator decried the "horrifying" crime committed by individuals who he emphasized are not authorized to reside within the United States.
I am horrified and sickened by the brutal murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in San Antonio, Texas. This senseless and depraved act has left an immeasurable void in her family's life and a deep scar on our community.
Sen. Cruz Condemns Brutal Murder of 12-Year-Old by Illegal Immigrants
The two men charged with this heinous crime—Juan Eduardo Melendez Torres and Heriberto Renteria-Martinez—are both illegal aliens. This fact should not be overlooked or diminished. They have no right to be in our country, and their presence here has resulted in a tragic loss of innocent life.
If these men are found guilty, they must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. I urge the district attorney to seek the death penalty for both individuals. This is the ultimate punishment for the ultimate crime.
For years, I have advocated for stricter border security and tougher immigration enforcement. This case is a grim reminder of the urgent need for these measures. We cannot allow criminals to enter our country and terrorize our citizens.
The Nungaray family is in our thoughts and prayers during this unimaginable time. We must stand with them and demand justice for Jocelyn.
The death penalty is a controversial issue, but I believe it is the only just punishment for certain heinous crimes, such as the murder of an innocent child. These men have taken a life and should forfeit their own.
Some argue that the death penalty is inhumane, but I believe that there is nothing inhumane about exacting the ultimate punishment for the ultimate crime. These men have shown no mercy, and they deserve none in return.
Others argue that the death penalty is not a deterrent, but I believe that it does have a deterrent effect. The possibility of facing execution may prevent some individuals from committing such heinous acts.
Whatever one's personal feelings on the death penalty, we must all agree that these men deserve the maximum possible punishment. They have taken an innocent life and should not be allowed to live.
The murder of Jocelyn Nungaray is a tragic reminder of the urgent need to secure our borders and strengthen our immigration enforcement. We cannot allow illegal aliens to enter our country and commit such heinous crimes.
I have long advocated for stricter border security and tougher immigration enforcement. We must build a wall along our southern border, increase the number of border patrol agents, and deport criminal illegal aliens.
We must also crack down on sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with immigration authorities. These cities are havens for criminals, and they must be held accountable.
Our country is founded on the rule of law. We must enforce our laws and protect our citizens from those who would do them harm. We must secure our borders and stop the flow of illegal immigration. And we must hold criminals accountable for their actions.
Jocelyn Nungaray's life was cut short by two heartless criminals. We must honor her memory by demanding justice. We must ensure that these men are punished to the fullest extent of the law. And we must take action to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
I urge all Americans to join me in praying for the Nungaray family and in demanding justice for Jocelyn.
