Democratic Senator John Fetterman has expressed unequivocal support for Israel in the wake of recent strikes that have left Iran and its proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah, reeling.
Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) has emerged as a staunch supporter of Israel, commending the Jewish state for its decisive actions against Iran and its proxies.
In a recent appearance on "Fox News Sunday," Fetterman emphasized that Israel possesses a profound understanding of the situation on the ground and should be trusted to determine the most appropriate responses to threats from Iran. "Whatever they decide to do in response to Iran, I'm going to support that because Israel will have a better idea of the intelligence and the circumstances on the ground," Fetterman declared.

Fetterman's remarks were spurred by Israel's recent strikes against Hezbollah and Hamas, which he described as having left the Iranian proxies "cowering." He extolled Israel's ability to effectively neutralize these threats, particularly in light of Iran's own attempts to retaliate.
Fetterman referenced Iran's bombardment of Israel with 181 missiles, which were subsequently intercepted by Israel's robust anti-missile system. He also noted that Hamas and Hezbollah had engaged in skirmishes with Israel since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in October.

In the face of these threats, Fetterman expressed unwavering support for Israel's actions. "I also want to celebrate what Israel has been able to do," he remarked. "They've demolished Hamas and now they have humiliated Hezbollah and they are now cowering. And Iran shot, you know, 200 missiles and [Israel] vaporized those. So, Iran now is left exposed and humiliated, and Israel has put them back on the ropes. And I am going to support what they continue to do."
Fetterman's stance aligns with that of President Biden, who recently affirmed that Israel has the right to "proportionally" respond to Iran's military strikes. However, Biden's assertion that he would not support an Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear sites has drawn criticism from former President Trump, who called it "the craziest thing I've ever heard."

Despite such divisions within the US government, Fetterman's unequivocal support for Israel has garnered attention. His comments come as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned Western leaders for calling for an arms embargo on Israel amidst its airstrikes against Hamas in Gaza. "As Israel fights the forces of barbarism led by Iran, all civilized countries should be standing firmly by Israel's side," Netanyahu stated.
Fetterman's pledge of support for Israel underscores the ongoing efforts to combat Iran's influence in the region and ensure the security of Israel and its neighbors. His remarks also highlight the importance of international cooperation and solidarity in the face of shared threats.
