A 66-year-old Florida man defended his property and himself against a 29-year-old intruder, resulting in the younger man being hospitalized for injuries sustained during a physical altercation.

A Florida man's attempt to break into a truck ended in a hospital visit after he was allegedly beaten up by a 66-year-old resident of the home. The incident, which occurred in Brevard County, Florida, has drawn attention for the senior citizen's successful defense of his property.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, the 66-year-old man called 911 on Thursday morning after hearing suspicious noises outside his residence. Upon investigating, he discovered 29-year-old Blake Robinson attempting to break into his truck.

Instead of confronting Robinson directly, the 66-year-old man retreated inside to call law enforcement. However, when he reemerged, Robinson allegedly attacked him, punching the victim in the head, throwing him to the ground, and kicking him in the head.

Despite the disparity in physicality, the older man managed to fight back, delivering a blow that sent Robinson tumbling to the ground. Seizing the opportunity, the victim escaped and contacted law enforcement.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Robinson struggling to stand due to the injuries he had sustained. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being released into police custody.

Robinson was charged with felony battery of a person over the age of 65 and attempted burglary of a conveyance. He was booked into the Brevard County Jail with a $30,000 bond.

The victim of the attack, who chose to remain anonymous, sustained minor injuries that required brief medical attention.

In a Facebook post, Sheriff Wayne Ivey praised the actions of the elderly man, emphasizing the importance of self-defense. "As for Robinson, he was fortunate enough to be in Brevard County where he won a few prizes for being stupid including a chauffeured ride to a local medical facility to check his injuries before arriving at his less than luxurious accommodations at 'Ivey's Iron Bar Lodge!!'" Sheriff Ivey wrote.

"At the lodge, he was given a freshly washed 2 piece ensemble to get comfortable in, before being shown to his sleeping area in our open floor plan," Ivey added.

The sheriff also highlighted the enhanced charge Robinson received for assaulting an individual over the age of 65. "We hope you enjoy your stay at our lodge and as we like to say here in Brevard County, 'Mess Around and Find Out!!'" he concluded.

The incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers faced by homeowners in protecting their property and the importance of self-defense training for senior citizens. It also highlights the efficiency of law enforcement in apprehending and charging suspects in such cases.
