Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic has etched his name further into NBA history by claiming his third MVP award in the past four seasons. However, not everyone is convinced that the Serbian center deserved the accolade.

During an interview with Jokic on "NBA on TNT," former Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O'Neal voiced his dissatisfaction with the voting results. "I love you, you're the best player in the league," O'Neal began, "but I thought SGA should've been the MVP, no disrespect."

O'Neal was referring to Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who finished second in the MVP voting with 15 first-place votes compared to Jokic's 79. Gilgeous-Alexander put together a stellar season, averaging 30.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists, leading the Thunder to the top seed in the Western Conference.

Jokic, for his part, averaged 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9.0 assists, becoming the first player in NBA history to average at least 26, 12, and 9 for multiple seasons. He also led the Nuggets to the third seed in the Western Conference.

O'Neal explained his support for Gilgeous-Alexander by highlighting the Thunder guard's leadership and impact on his team. "He took his team from the lottery to the No. 1 seed in the West," O'Neal said. "To me, that's a big jump. He's only in his fifth year, so he's got a bright future."

Jokic responded to O'Neal's comments with humor and humility. "We don't judge people here, so that's fine. It's your opinion," Jokic said with a laugh. "I'm joking. There's a lot of players that deserve it."

Despite the controversy surrounding this year's MVP award, Jokic has etched his name among the NBA's elite. He is now one of only seven players in league history to win three MVP awards in four seasons.

Gilgeous-Alexander, on the other hand, has emerged as a rising star and a legitimate MVP candidate for the future. His performance this season has proven that he possesses the talent and leadership qualities to lead his team to greatness.

As the NBA playoffs continue, it remains to be seen how Jokic and Gilgeous-Alexander will perform under the brightest lights. However, one thing is certain: the debate over this year's MVP award will continue to fuel discussions for some time to come.
