Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, is the odds-on favorite to be the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
Shedeur Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback and son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, is the early favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, according to odds released by DraftKings Sportsbook.
Sanders had a stellar 2023 season, his first as the Buffaloes' starting quarterback, throwing for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns with just three interceptions. He completed 69.3% of his passes and led Colorado to a 7-6 record, its first winning season since 2016.
At DraftKings Sportsbook, Sanders is listed as a +100 favorite to go No. 1 overall in 2025. Behind him are Georgia's Carson Beck and Texas' Quinn Ewers, both of whom are listed at +300. Penn State's Drew Allar and Alabama's Jalen Milroe are both at +950, while Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart is at +1200. Miami's Cameron Ward and Georgia's Mykel Williams are both at +1500.
Not surprisingly, all of the top seven players on the oddsboard are quarterbacks, coming off a draft in which six QBs went in the first 12 picks, including picks No. 1, 2 and 3.
Deion Sanders has made it clear that he has some preferred landing spots for his son, but he has also denied rumors that he has specifically directed Shedeur to any particular NFL team.
"All of this is subjective because I know where I kinda want them to go," Deion said in late March. "But I know where I want them to go. So, there are certain cities that ain't gonna happen. … It's going to be an Eli. We ain't doing it."
Deion was referring to the Eli Manning draft saga, in which Manning refused to play for the then-San Diego Chargers, who had the No. 1 pick in the 2004 NFL Draft.
Rumor then spread that Deion preferred Shedeur and Hunter to play for one of six NFL teams. Deion addressed those rumors in mid-April.
"One thing about a lie — a lie is so fast it can outrun the truth any day," Deion said. "That's a bald-faced lie. That's a stupid lie. I have more than six owners that are friends. I have more than six GMs that are friends."
Shedeur Sanders is expected to be one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, and he could follow in the footsteps of his father and become one of the best players in the NFL.
