From the opening whistle, South Alabama dominated the game. Jamaal Pritchett set the tone early with a 62-yard punt return for a touchdown just two minutes into the contest. The Demons finally managed to get on the scoreboard with a touchdown pass from JT Fyard to Myles Kitt-Denton, but it was a mere consolation amidst the Jags' offensive fireworks.

In the fourth quarter, South Alabama's offense slowed down slightly, but they still added seven more points to their tally. The final score of 87-10 marked the largest margin of victory for South Alabama in its history and the most points scored by a team in the Football Bowl Subdivision since 1991.
