Former Buffalo Bills star wide receiver Stefon Diggs has opened up about his tumultuous departure from the team, citing a decline in team performance and a need for a change of scenery as driving factors.
Stefon Diggs, the two-time All-Pro wide receiver, has broken his silence on his bitter split with the Buffalo Bills, alleging that a shift in team dynamics and a drop in performance contributed to his eventual departure.
Despite signing a lucrative contract extension with the Bills in 2022, Diggs grew increasingly unhappy with his situation in Western New York. The rift became evident as the season progressed, and it became clear that a divorce between the Bills and Diggs was inevitable.

In a recent interview with GQ Sports, Diggs candidly expressed his frustrations, stating: "Last year, I was in the worst mental space I've been in since I've been in the league. If I'm not in a good space, obviously that's not the best for me. So that's when things had to start shaking out."
Diggs' discontent stemmed from a perceived decline in the Bills' overall performance, particularly down the stretch. After a promising start to the season, Diggs witnessed a significant drop in production over the final 11 weeks of the regular season.

"The games looked a lot different," Diggs said. "You can blame me. I don't mind blaming me. I got big a-- shoulders. But pay attention, pay real close attention. Watch the game. Of course there's plenty of plays I want back. But there's a lot of plays that didn't go my way."
Diggs questioned the team's decision-making and execution, suggesting that factors beyond his control may have contributed to his diminished production.

"I need a lot of things to go right to get the ball ... You can't roll out of bed and get 800 yards in the first eight games. Your best receiver's doing that. You tell me about the last 10. What changed? Were there changes going on? I just pay attention to what really happened and not what people try to act like happened. Like, for the last 10 games, I forgot how to f----ng play football?"
Diggs' departure marked a significant shift in the Bills' receiving corps. The team also parted ways with wide receiver Gabe Davis and brought in veteran pass-catchers Curtis Samuel and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. In the draft, Buffalo selected former Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane jokingly described the team's current receiver room as "Baskin-Robbins," boasting a variety of "flavors."
Despite the roster changes, Diggs' comments highlight the complexities and nuances of professional sports. While individual performance is often scrutinized, team dynamics and external factors can also play a pivotal role in player outcomes and decisions.
