Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, stepped into the courtroom on Tuesday to provide her account in the ongoing criminal trial against former President Donald Trump. The trial revolves around 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, stemming from a years-long investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

Daniels' testimony centered on alleged payments made to her by Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, in an attempt to silence her about a claimed 2006 extramarital affair with Trump. In 2016, Cohen paid Daniels $130,000 as hush money to prevent her from publicly discussing the allegations.

Initially, Daniels denied any extramarital relationship with Trump, stating that their interactions were limited to public appearances. However, in 2018, she changed her story during an interview with "60 Minutes," alleging that she had a one-time unprotected sexual encounter with Trump.

During her testimony on Tuesday, Daniels' former attorney, Keith Davidson, contradicted her previous denials. Davidson testified that Daniels' initial claim of no affair was technically true and that the payment from Cohen was not a payoff but rather a "consideration."

Trump's defense attorneys cross-examined Davidson, presenting audio recordings in which he admitted that Cohen had the authority to make the payment to Daniels without Trump's explicit authorization.

Cohen, who pleaded guilty to federal charges including lying to Congress and campaign finance violations, was sentenced to three years in prison. He confessed to arranging the payment to Daniels to prevent her from going public with her alleged affair with Trump.

The trial has drawn considerable public attention, with prosecutors calling numerous witnesses to the stand, including Keith Davidson and Playboy model Karen McDougal, who also received a hush money payment from Cohen.

Trump has repeatedly denied the alleged affairs, and the trial is expected to continue with further witness testimonies and evidence presented by both sides. The outcome of the trial will have significant implications for Trump's reputation and potential legal consequences.
