Suzanne Morphew vanished on a Mother's Day bike ride in 2020. Her remains were discovered in 2023, leading to a homicide ruling.

"For the past four years, the Morphews have agonized over Suzanne's disappearance," said Iris Eytan, an attorney representing Barry Morphew. "This included not only the pain of the loss of their wife and mother but also the false accusations and prosecution of Barry Morphew."

Morphew was initially charged with murder and tampering with evidence but was released after prosecutors dropped the charges to allow more time to find Suzanne's body.

"The Morphews are left with more questions than answers and a lack of justice for Suzanne, the family, and the community," Eytan said.

Suzanne's family will hold a gathering on Sunday to remember her.

The case has been marred by controversy and legal disputes. Morphew's defense team filed a $15 million lawsuit against prosecutors and investigators, accusing them of violating his constitutional rights.

Suzanne Morphew's autopsy revealed she died by homicide "in the setting of" drug intoxication. The sedatives found in her system were the same ones Barry Morphew told investigators he used to shoot deer in his yard with a tranquilizer gun.

Morphew's attorney, Eytan, asserts that Suzanne was abducted, allegedly drugged, and buried 50 miles south of their home. She questions why her client's DNA was not found on Suzanne's clothing or the area where her remains were discovered.

Investigators found a partial DNA profile on Suzanne Morphew's glovebox that matched profiles from sexual assault cases in other cities. They also found unknown male DNA on her bike. However, authorities have not revealed if DNA testing has been conducted on Suzanne's clothes or the bullet found with her remains.

Text messages unsealed in 2023 indicate that Suzanne and Barry Morphew were both having affairs before her disappearance.

Morphew maintains his innocence, and the case remains open. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
