HGTV star Tarek El Moussa has undergone a dramatic health journey in recent years, shedding unhealthy habits and embracing a healthier lifestyle. His transformation, fueled by the support of his wife Heather, has resulted in significant improvements in his physical and mental well-being.
Over the past three years, HGTV star Tarek El Moussa has embarked on a transformative health journey, resulting in a remarkable physical and mental transformation.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, El Moussa shared insights into his journey, highlighting the pivotal role played by his wife Heather in supporting his transition to a healthier lifestyle.
"The health journey has really been since 2013, but I really stepped it up in the past three years," said El Moussa at the Alzheimer's Association California Southland Chapter's Magic of Music Gala. "It's amazing what we really can do when we focus and we set goals, and you know, Heather has been a huge part of that, cleaning up my diet and really motivating me to take better care of my health."
El Moussa's health journey began in 2013 when he received two life-altering cancer diagnoses: thyroid cancer and testicular cancer. His struggles continued when he suffered a debilitating back injury in 2015, leading to extensive surgeries and complications.
During this challenging period, El Moussa turned to unhealthy coping mechanisms, including excessive alcohol consumption and painkiller abuse. However, recognizing the detrimental impact these habits were having on his health and well-being, he made the decision to make a change.
"I’ve become very used to doing things I don’t want to do," said El Moussa. "Over the last three years, I’ve been in the gym almost every day with my buddy and fitness expert @seantorbati."
El Moussa credits his wife Heather for being an unwavering source of support throughout his transformation. Together, they have adopted a healthier lifestyle, prioritizing nutritious meals, limiting alcohol consumption, and engaging in regular exercise.
"Wake up early, take vitamins, limit alcohol, eat really healthy," said Heather, outlining their approach to maintaining El Moussa's new look.
In addition to physical improvements, El Moussa has also experienced significant mental health benefits from his lifestyle changes. He and his ex-wife Christina Hall have successfully navigated co-parenting their two children, Taylor and Brayden, prioritizing the well-being of their family above all else.
"Kids are No. 1. That's it. There's no other answer. Kids are No. 1," said El Moussa, emphasizing the importance of putting children first in co-parenting relationships.
El Moussa's journey serves as an inspiration to anyone seeking to improve their health and well-being. His transformation demonstrates that with determination, support, and a commitment to positive habits, it is possible to overcome challenges and achieve a healthier, more fulfilling life.
