Despite her popularity and ability to attract new viewers, former NFL sideline reporter Michele Tafoya argues that Team USA made a mistake in not selecting Caitlin Clark for the Olympics roster.
In a move that has raised eyebrows among fans and experts, Team USA has decided to snub rising star Caitlin Clark from its Olympics roster. The decision has left many wondering if the team has missed out on a "golden opportunity" to showcase one of the most exciting talents in women's basketball.
Former NFL sideline reporter Michele Tafoya is among those who believe that Clark's exclusion is a major mistake. In a recent interview, Tafoya argued that Clark's popularity and ability to bring new viewers to women's sports made her an ideal choice for the team.

"Caitlin Clark is one of the most exciting players in the game today," Tafoya said. "She's a phenomenal shooter, has incredible court vision, and can make plays that leave you speechless. I think she would have been a huge asset to Team USA, both on and off the court."
Clark has been a standout performer for the University of Iowa since arriving on campus in 2021. She has averaged over 25 points per game in each of her first two seasons, and has led the Hawkeyes to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.

In addition to her on-court accomplishments, Clark has also become a major star on social media. She has over 1 million followers on Instagram and Twitter, and her videos and highlights regularly go viral.
Tafoya believes that Clark's popularity would have helped to attract new viewers to women's basketball. She argues that the team could have used her platform to promote the sport and inspire young girls to get involved.

"Caitlin Clark is a role model for young girls all over the country," Tafoya said. "She's shown that anything is possible if you work hard and believe in yourself. I think she would have been a great ambassador for Team USA and for women's sports in general."
While some may question Clark's lack of international experience, Tafoya believes that her talent and potential outweigh any concerns. She argues that Clark would have quickly adjusted to the international game and become a major contributor for Team USA.
"Caitlin Clark is a special player," Tafoya said. "I think she would have been a huge asset to Team USA and I'm disappointed that she won't be able to represent her country at the Olympics."
Only time will tell whether Team USA will regret its decision to leave Clark off the roster. However, one thing is for sure: the team has missed out on a golden opportunity to showcase one of the most exciting talents in women's basketball.
