Nick Wright of 'The Herd' attributes Team USA's early dominance in the 2024 Olympics to the exceptional play of superstar LeBron James, while Charles Barkley sets lofty expectations for the team, demanding a gold medal or barring the players from returning home.
Team USA's basketball squad has made an impressive start to the 2024 Olympics, and renowned analyst Nick Wright believes that LeBron James has been the driving force behind their early success.

During an appearance on 'The Herd,' Wright stated, "LeBron has been the best player by far. He's been doing everything for this team: scoring, rebounding, assisting, and playing defense. He's the complete package, and he's leading by example."
Legendary NBA player Charles Barkley, a two-time Olympic gold medalist himself, has made no secret of his high expectations for the U.S. men's basketball team. Barkley has emphatically declared, "Listen, if they lose, we can't let them back in the country. We can't. I'll tell them, 'You can't come back.'"

Barkley, who was part of the legendary "Dream Team" that won gold in 1992 and 1996, is a staunch believer in the superiority of the U.S. squad. He acknowledges that international teams have improved but maintains that the United States still possesses an unmatched depth of talent.
"Have the international teams gotten better, 100%," Barkley said. "They're still not better than the United States. You take away 'Joker' [Nikola Jokic] and Giannis [Antetokounmpo] and Luka [Doncic] — all three guys are great, great players. Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander] is great also, but we still got the next 10 best players in every game."

Barkley also praised the team's bench strength, highlighting the exceptional abilities of Jayson Tatum and Kevin Durant as players who can come off the bench and make an immediate impact.
"Ain't nobody bringing anybody off the bench better than Jayson Tatum," Barkley said. "Ain't nobody bringing anybody off the bench better than Kevin Durant. The international teams have gotten better, but there's never an excuse for the United States not to win the gold medal. We got the best team, we've got the best players by far."
