The 17-year-old suspect allegedly involved in the shooting of San Francisco 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall has been charged with three felonies, including attempted murder.

A 17-year-old suspect has been hit with three felonies in connection with the shooting of San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall. The juvenile, whose name has not been released due to his age, faces charges of attempted murder with enhancing allegations of intentional discharge of a firearm and personal use of a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and attempted second-degree robbery.

Pearsall was shot in the chest in San Francisco's Union Square on Saturday, allegedly by the 17-year-old suspect, who attempted to rob him of his Rolex watch. Pearsall was in stable condition upon being admitted to the hospital and was released on Sunday. He was working out with teammates on Tuesday.

Pearsall's mother, Erin, revealed that the bullet fired at her son went through his chest and exited his back without hitting any vital organs. The suspect was also taken to the hospital with Pearsall after the incident on Saturday.

As Pearsall continues his recovery, he is hoping to make an impact on a talented 49ers squad entering his rookie year. He dealt with some nagging injuries during training camp that forced him to miss all three preseason games. Pearsall has been placed on injured reserve, which will force him to miss the Niners' first four games of the season.

The shooting incident has raised concerns about the safety of professional athletes in San Francisco. The city has been plagued by violent crime in recent years, and athletes have been targeted in the past. In 2019, former San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence was the victim of an attempted carjacking.

The San Francisco Police Department is investigating the shooting. Police Chief Bill Scott said that the department is "committed to ensuring the safety of all individuals in San Francisco, including our athletes."

The suspect in the shooting is being held without bail. The case is expected to go to trial in the coming months.
